  • The Position:

    This position acts as a crucial link between the partners and staff and is key to the success of the firm. This role will require working closely with the principals, staff and clients and involves a wide breadth of responsibility.

    Required Attributes:

    This position is best suited to a well-rounded candidate with experience in small to mid-size firms, who possess excellent oral and written communication skills. The role ideally requires an ambitious, growth-oriented professional with a desire to develop managerial skills while taking ownership of and responsibility for clients.

    • Canadian CPA designation

    • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Canadian public practice accounting and tax

    • Passed CFE exam

    • Working knowledge of ASPE

    • Strong organization and communication skills

    • Ability to excel in high pressure working environment

    • Experience working in a team-based environment

    • Desire to grow your career in a small to mid-sized public practice accounting firm

    Additional Assets:

    • Prior management experience

    • Strong problem-solving skills

    • Experience with CaseWare

    • Experience with QBO

    • Experience with TaxCycle

    • Proficient with Microsoft office applications including Excel and word

    • Living in Richmond area

    Key Responsibilities include:

    • Performing, completing, and managing audit, review, and compilation engagements

    • Supporting and completing GST and PST returns, WCB returns, personal tax returns, corporate returns, partnership, and trust returns

    • Assisting Partners with tax planning and compliance matters

    • Facilitate smooth communication between Partners and Staff

    • Manage internal and offshore accounting staff, providing regular guidance and coaching to develop their knowledge

    • Delegate work/ ensure files are progressing

    • Communicating directly with clients and identifying additional service opportunities

    • Performing various tax and accounting standards research and maintaining a strong knowledge base

    • Assisting with special engagements and other accounting, tax and administrative duties as required

    Required Education and Experience

    • CPA accounting designation

    • Experience working through entire engagements

    • Experience working directly with staff and clients

    • Experience with corporate and personal Canadian Tax issues

    • Experience doing In-depth assurance work

    Compensation & Benefits

    • Salary: Dependent on experience

    • Schedule: Monday to Friday, standard business hours

    • Vacation: 3.5 weeks plus all statutory holidays and firm designated days off

    • Benefits: Pacific Blue Cross Health & Dental Plan plus Health Spending Account allowance

    • Professional Development: Monthly Inhouse hours provided as well as an additional allowance TBD

    • Parking: On-site firm designated spots available

    • Work from Home: Optional up to 2 days/week after probationary period
